1. Recognize Your Need for Salvation.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
This is the first step: admitting you need forgiveness and a Savior. Acknowledge that you are a sinner and cannot save yourself.
2. Believe in Jesus Christ
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16)
Believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He died for your sins, and that God raised Him from the dead. Salvation comes not by good works, but by faith in Christ.
3. Repent of Your Sins
“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out” (Acts 3:19)
Repentance means turning away from sin and turning toward God with a sincere heart.
4. Confess Jesus as Lord
“If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9)
With your mouth, declare that Jesus is Lord and surrender your life to Him.
5. Receive Him by Faith
“But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name” (John 1:12).
Invite Jesus into your heart to be your Lord, Savior, and King.
6. Live as a New Creation
“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Salvation begins a new life in Christ. Follow Him daily, grow in His Word, pray, and connect with other believers.
Prayer of Salvation
If you would love to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, pray this prayer from your heart.
Heavenly Father,
I come to You today just as I am. I confess that I am a sinner, and I need Your mercy and grace. Your Word says in Romans 10:9–10 that if I confess with my mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, I will be saved.
Today, I believe in my heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I believe He died for my sins, and that You raised Him from the dead. I repent of my sins, and I turn away from my old life.
Lord Jesus, I confess You as my Lord and Savior. Come into my heart, live in me, and make me a new creation. Wash me clean by Your blood, and fill me with Your Holy Spirit.
From this moment, I declare that I am a child of God. My past is forgiven, my future is secure, and I will follow You all the days of my life. Thank You, Lord, for saving me today.
In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray. Amen.
What Happens After Receiving Jesus Christ
1. You Become a Child of God
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (John 1:12)
You are no longer just God’s creation; you are now His son or daughter.
2. Your Sins Are Forgiven and Washed Away
“In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins” (Colossians 1:14).
“Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow” (Isaiah 1:18).
Every sin — past, present, and future — is forgiven through the blood of Jesus.
3. You Are Born Again (A New Creation)
“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Your spirit is made alive, and you receive a brand-new life.
4. You Receive Eternal Life
“And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son” (1 John 5:11)
Salvation is not just for this life — you now have the gift of eternal life with God.
5. The Holy Spirit Comes to Live in You
God Himself dwells in you by His Spirit — guiding, empowering, and transforming you.
“Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16)
6. You Are Set Free From the Power of Darkness
“For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves” (Colossians 1:13)
The devil no longer has a legal hold over you. You’ve been transferred into God’s kingdom.
7. Your Name Is Written in the Book of Life
“Rejoice because your names are written in heaven” (Luke 10:20)
Heaven celebrates your salvation, and your name is now recorded in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
8. You Begin a Journey of Transformation
“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6)
Salvation is the start of a lifelong walk with God — learning, growing, and being changed into Christ’s likeness.
When you receive Jesus, your past is forgiven, your spirit is reborn, your future is secured, and God Himself now lives in you. You are no longer who you used to be — you are a new person, a child of God, set free, loved, and destined for eternal life.
Next Steps After Salvation
1. Get Rooted in God’s Word (The Bible)
“As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby” (1 Peter 2:2)
The Bible is your spiritual food. Read it daily to know God’s will and grow in faith. Start with the Gospel of John to understand Jesus’ love and life.
2. Pray Daily (Talk to God)
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God” (Philippians 4:6)
Prayer is your lifeline to God. Talk to Him openly about everything.
3. Find a Bible-Believing Church
“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together…” (Hebrews 10:25)
Don’t walk alone. You need fellowship, teaching, and encouragement. Look for a church that teaches Jesus as Lord and lives by the Word.
4. Be Baptized in Water
“Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins” (Acts 2:38)
Baptism is an act of obedience and a public declaration that you now belong to Christ.
5. Receive and Walk in the Holy Spirit
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you” (Acts 1:8)
The Holy Spirit is your helper, comforter, and guide. Ask God daily to fill you.
6. Live a Changed Life
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16)
Salvation should show in your lifestyle — leave old sinful ways and walk in holiness.
7. Share Your Faith With Others
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations…” (Matthew 28:19)
Tell others about what Jesus has done for you. Salvation grows stronger when you share it.
Prophetic Declaration For The New Believer
“I am a child of God, born again and redeemed by the blood of Jesus. The old has passed away, and all things have become new in my life (2 Corinthians 5:17). I am forgiven, loved, and accepted in the beloved (Ephesians 1:6).
The Holy Spirit dwells in me, guiding, empowering, and equipping me for every good work that God has prepared for me (John 14:26; Ephesians 2:10). No weapon formed against me shall prosper, and every plan of the enemy to steal, kill, or destroy is nullified by the blood of Jesus (Isaiah 54:17).
I walk in victory, peace, and joy. I am strong in faith, bold in spirit, and full of God’s wisdom and favor (Psalm 5:12; Proverbs 3:5–6). I am a light in the world, a witness of God’s love, and a blessing to my family, my community, and my generation (Matthew 5:14–16).
I declare that my life is aligned with God’s perfect plan. I will grow in holiness, bear fruit, and fulfill my divine purpose on the earth. I am more than a conqueror through Christ who strengthens me (Romans 8:37).
I speak life, faith, and victory over myself and my future. From this day forward, I will walk in the fullness of God’s promises and live a life that brings glory to Him. Amen.”
